What are the regulations for buying bikes from Auction?

Buying a bike from Auction House?

We have regulations regarding the collection and transportation of bikes from Auctions such as Pickles, Manheim Fowles, etc. Please read the following to make sure we can collect your bike with no issue, no delays and no surprise fees before your transport.

1. QUOTES:

Let us know that your bike is from an Auction and mention any details you have on the condition of the bike. Not all bikes are rollable and some may require a pallet at an additional cost of $150 and/or forklift hire fee which varies across locations.

Please note that auction centres now require our Drivers to:

• Find the bike themselves in the warehouse among other bikes and vehicles without assistance 
• Complete the collection paperwork 
• Wait in line to obtain the key from the office
• Move the bike to the loading area, before completing our own paperwork and loading the bike onto our trucks

All of the above combined with COVID restrictions limiting the number of people allowed on the site at one time, meaning that it takes 1-2 hours to collect the bike. 

2. ON BOOKING:

Your booking is subject to confirmation with the auction house regarding the condition of the bike for loading with ease (such as missing handlebars, major damage, flat tyres and rollable), as this may attract extra fees. We will contact the Auction and confirm the details of the bike.

We will require the following details from you:

1. Auction House name, contact number and name (if any)
2. Buyer Number
3. Lot Number
4. Vin Number of the bike
5. Photos of the bike*
6. Will the key be with the bike? 
7. Is this bike damaged or un-rollable and needs to be on a pallet?**
8. Collections from Grays Online Auctions will require a purchase invoice, a letter of authority to collect and a copy of the driver’s licence of the buyer (front & back)

* Please know that photos are not always an accurate representation of the bike's condition upon pick up, as often 2-4 weeks may go by between photos and auction. We will call the Auction House to confirm.

** We will confirm with the Auction house if a pallet is required, if so then it will incur a $150 pallet fee 

 

3. INSURANCE:

Transit Insurance will still apply to cover your bike for any damage due to flood, fire, collision, overturning and theft. 

There will be no damage warranty on any bikes purchased from auction centres and their agencies. Vehicles are purchased at auction are on an as-is-where-is basis, therefore, there may be additional damage, mechanical issues or body blemishes that are not clearly identified in the photos and descriptions supplied by the auction house.
